Owens to Raiders?

I just read that the latest trade rumor involving Terrell Owens has him going to Oakland for Jerry Porter and a first round pick. In a way this makes sense for the Eagles. Porter is younger, he’s faster, and he doesn’t seem to be a bad citizen. Also Owens is clearly toast in Philly no matter what he does now. Philly’s fans will eat this guy alive if given the opportunity. For the Raiders, this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Owens is popular enough in the area to generate some ticket sales, but is he going to be able to share the ball with Randy Moss? If you factor in the hope that Lamont Jordan is going to provide an inept running game with a legitimate third down capability—run or pass—you have to wonder why they wouldn’t just hang on to Porter. Porter did after all manage to coexist with two hall-of-famers who were past their prime and still demanding the ball. I think in fact that Philly minus Terrell Owens and Freddie Mitchell is closer to the Super Bowl than they were last year. I’m curious to see if this trade gets worked out, or if it’s just a rumor being floated by Owens to put pressure on the Eagles to cave in. If that’s the case I think he will be mightily disappointed by how many people in Philadelphia think it’s a great idea.
